And there are still a lot of free agents out there who might like to play ball, too, and don't have teams. I don't know that any of them would be a good fit for us, but it seems like there was a surplus of players without anywhere to do when this season started. It may suck that some of our guys have to leave, but I hope they make the right choices here while shedding the skin of the Bavasi era.

I also heard that Selig was asking teams to cut their spending this year, so I wonder what impact that will have on who plays where, and for how much.

Aardsma working on offspeed pitches WOO HOO!!!!!
Thats the Best news in the world.....because as good as He has been....If ya just throw a fastball every single time ..when ya face the elite hitters...they are gonna set a record for longest HR......as long as he keeps throwing strikes...he's gonna keep getting the saves regularly....

And a decent breaking or offspeed pitch, and throw it for strikes.....(even if its just a split finger fastball that tail down like JJ)...He will be unhittable.....not just by average hitters...but to the great hitters.

I know what ya mean.....before the season.....if everything went well....I felt the mariners could be in the hunt, and be respectable ....But April made ya believe it could be more.

I am just glad if they arent going to make the playoffs....that this did happen now.....
Because the worst thing in the world is to have guys who definatelty wont be with the team next year, because they will get big money from another team (bedard, beltre, and to a lesser extent Washburn)....they end up playing for us the entire year.....dont make the playoffs...and we get nothing for them......
Even though I dont want them to go....I would rather give them up in June/July....and get 4 to 10 guys...that a couple of them might be really good productive players in the future (prospects are hit or miss, but some of the best players the mariners have ever gotten were done this way.....Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner, Mike Cameron, Brett Boone (the 1st time) Freddy Garcia,....

If Jack can combine some good trades...with the masssive amount of high draft picks we have this year....He can start building the franchise back up to where it use to be. Where every year it was contending for a playoff spot.
