SECTION 331

Pushing a Giant Baseball Up a Hill and Watching It Roll Back Down Since 2008

Wow

In the midst of a rain delay. Have I mentioned lately how much I love SafeCo Field?

This game so far has been a dinger-fest, in particular Kenji Johjima hitting Jarrod Washburn’s Dolphin over the wall. You’d like to think that time heals all wounds, but it looks like the only cure for what was ailing Kenji from 2008 was hitting that pitch. It’s nice to see him get that hit. Mike Sweeney was also the source of a home run, proving that some old dogs may not have new tricks, but their old ones are some of the best around. Russell Branyan also hit what the announcers are saying might be one of the longest hits in the short history of CoMerica Park.

Did I just refer to Mike Sweeney as “old”? Feel free to laugh at me as I look down the barrel of my 38th birthday.

The Tigers have been busy peppering Ryan Rowland-Smith, and the score is 6-2 Mariners with the bases loaded for Detroit as I sit here listening to Brock and Salk on 710. Chris Jakubauskus was projected as the next arm up. If we can get ourselves out of this, Carlos Silva may have some more kisses to fork over in the dugout.

Back to work. I have a headache I need to quell before tonight’s match. Stupid sinuses.
