I just like knowing he’s not annoyed to be here. And the fact that he knows our defense will be behind him, and is familiar enough with the whole ‘new day new way’ thing. It’s nice that the team is now taken seriously. Buster Olney even wrote an article in a recent issue of ESPN magazine about the way the Ms have changed and are starting to take the numbers more seriously.

My favorite part of the press conference was when Cliff Lee was putting on the M’s shirt and said it was a nice fit, and Trader Jack said something like “we hope so.” Pretty enjoyable to watch, and I for one pledge never to boo when Cliff Lee is pitching for the M’s!

Trader Jack is pretty careful with information, and there have been several blog postings, as well as articles, speculating on the M’s payroll. He did seem a bit annoyed, but it may be he is getting tired of answering the question.

Some people were talking about it on LL – I guess there have been two of the press that have asked/speculated on it, so I think the comment was directed more at the press than anyone else. Bloggers don’t (generally) have the luxury of access to the FO like the press does, so who cares what any of us think?

I’m just stoked Cliff Lee is a Mariner….and Its Great feeling like we have a legitmate shot at the plyoffs even before the season starts.

You’re right, the figures have got to be close. But if the 2010 budget is only $93M instead of $98M-$99M like last year, that does make a difference.

the problem with a figure for money remaining is it can allow agents to try to demand more, or teams we trade with demand more money coming with a player etc.. Z runs a tight ship and if he was truely annoyed, im sure most of the figures.. **Cough 87-89 mil** are pretty close
