Brandon Morrow gone?!

Yeah, yeah; I’m late on pressing the quiz show button. But nobody comes here for news, they come here for my witty repartee and undereducated reactions to things that go on around me. I’m the Sheila Broflovski of Seattle Mariners bloggers.

I have no idea what to make of this, and it looks like I might not be alone. It seems awkward to me; it’d probably help if I knew anything about Brett Wallace or Brandon League, however, it still seems odd and out of nowhere; just  not in that same way that Jack Zduriencik and company usually make their odd-and-out-of-nowhere moves. If Dave Cameron is right, and this is a move made to a first base need, I’m kind of bummed about it. Maybe we could do better at first base, but I like Russell Branyan. I’d  prefer that he came back, if for no other reason than that he’s Russell Branyan, and we can’t get Adrian Gonzalez or Lyle Overbay instead (and I am at least somewhat interested in Lyle Overbay, for purely lame, local-boy reasons). Actually, what I’m more keenly interested in is why the hell this news is coming out this late in the evening? It’s nearly 10pm PST.

I’m not ready for this, I’m going back to watching the No Reservations marathon…

EDIT: I’ll be damned…if this settles and is for certain, I do believe I will miss Mr Brandon Morrow…

EDIT #2: If Morrow’s going anywhere, he hasn’t been told about it yet. OK, seriously, I’m going to just put the laptop down and watch Adult Swim…

I’m starting to think that Trader Jack doesn’t sleep, and he is trying to make sure that we don’t either.

Morrow could be brilliant, and he could be horrible. Probably didn’t help that he kept getting bounced around by the team. Hopefully, he will do well in Toronto (except when playing the M’s).

Trying to figure out what is going to happen next is freakin impossible, but our motto is “In Jack We Trust”.

Sadly, I really did have a feeling he’d eventually wind up gone and probably wouldn’t make it to 2010 in an Ms uniform. Doesn’t make it much easier…eventually, they’ll run out of Mariners that were here when I started paying attention, so maybe I won’t feel so much like they’re taking away all my grade school friends. LOL

It is pretty amazing when you look at the turnover in players from 2 years ago. I think there is only like 4 or 5 left.

Gotta trust that Jedi Master Z will make the team better in 2010.

If it does end up being Wallace (which I dont think it will)

I hope the prospect is a top one in the bluejays org…. because they dont have much after the first 4 or 5 guys.

Dont want to doubt Jack, but usually the first rumor is usually where I go ” thats cool” and then it ends up being mind blowing…..

So far this one makes me think “are we being nice to Toronto as a ‘get well’ trade for losing Halladay?”

I hope the trade is better than it is at the moment…

Please Jack, make me pee my pants in glee

Where did you hear it was Brett Wallace? We just sent the greatest Jay ever to the Phillies to end up with that kid. If we send him now, we suck and you will be quite happy.

  6. section331 says:

DG – Wallace was one of the names being tossed around in the original rumor, I believe. It doesn’t look like that’s the case as of this hour (9AM PST Tuesday), but he was one of the names thrown out on the wind. It was only briefly thrown out, and, as you mentioned, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

  7. Bart's Evil Twin says:

According to Geoff Baker, the prospect is minor league outfielder Yohermyn Chavez. Wouldn’t even hazard a guess as to how to pronounce that name, but welcome to Seattle anyway! 😀

  8. Craig D-MarinersManiac says:

    “Yohermyn Chavez”??

JackZ must really just want to get Rid of Morrow.

The Trade as is, I would rather Keep Morrow (we get him cheap for an extra year over League)

I expected the prospect to be a 2nd Tier (not the crazy ones people were talking about) but you can get a Chavez in the 99th round of any draft for free.

  9. section331 says:

Craig – looks like you’re not the only person who thought that, as Dave Cameron came up with that ‘getting rid of him’ idea as an actual possible reason for the trade. Though I also agree that it could have been an issue where it was the part of the Cliff Lee deal…
