Word up from the PDX

Just wanted to pop in and mention that while I have been away for the past 48 hours, I’m not totally out of the loop. I am quite aware of the whole Mike Sweeney and Ryan Garko situation, and the recent revelation on Jarrod Washburn (he rejected our money when his initial assessment was that his professional future wasn’t about the money – can we be done with this now?), the fact that Ian Snell is looking at being our number 2, that Matt Tuiasosopo has all but made the team, and that there seem to be a lot of people on the internet who are all really not happy about any of this. I probably left something out, since I’m running on about 6 hours of sleep over the past two days, but I think that about sums up all the stuff I’ve heard…oh, yeah, Jack Hannahan not being in as bad a shape as everyone initially thought he was. That about sum it up? I don’t even want to know what this is about…

I need far more time and rest to process the majority of this information, though I witnessed many a Twitter argument yesterday that made it seem like our happy little Mariners family is about to go through a terrible, messy divorce. Right now, however, I am full of sushi from the best Japanese restaurant in the Pacific Northwest, and looking at yet another night of beer with two of the guys from ProBallNW and at least one from Lookout Landing. I could also use a nap. In my current condition, trying to operate a laptop keypad to put words down about how I do or don’t feel about any of this would be whatever the opposite of an outstanding idea is, so I’m going to let this lie for a bit until I have the chance to do some further reading about it. I think. There are a lot of opinions floating around out there, mine are likely unnecessary.

Buckle up, folks, it’s going to be a long summer.

EDIT: Luke French has been sent down to Tacoma, nearly forgot about that one. I can’t decide if I’m surprised by this or not, but having Kanekoa Texeira and Brandon League in our immediate future does make me feel a little warm and fuzzy inside…no, wait, that’s just the sleep deprivation.

EDIT 2: Just kidding. I like both Tex and League.
