A move

There is no possible way that this will have any impact on today’s game, but Mariners hitting coach Alan Cockrell has been relieved of his duties. Tacoma Rainiers batting coach Alonzo Powell has been promoted to take his place.

This is an absolutely honest question, but at what point do you decide that it’s the players, not the people coaching them, that are responsible for their hitting? 2008 was a revolving door as far as staff was concerned here, and while changes made post season reflected positively on 2009, most of the same people who were here in 2009 are here now. What’s the difference? I’m not being sarcastic or confrontational here, I’d really like some insight from someone who might know more.

In any event, time to layer on some sunscreen so I don’t fry to death. Spent some of yesterday afternoon at Alki, and even though I wasn’t in direct sunlight 100% of the time, I paid for it a bit. All fingers and toes still crossed for a win today – I don’t even care what the margin is, just a little pick-me-up before a road trip might be nice…

It had to be done. It doesn’t technically do much, but it sets the tone for some additional changes.

PS: Love the picture at the top of the site. Looks like you’ve done a bit of a redesign since I last visited the site; so have we!

Eh, I just changed the photo – I think the layout has been the same for a while. πŸ™‚
FanSided looks a little neater now, cleaner. Good on ya. πŸ™‚
