I am going to have to wait until tomorrow to inundate this space with photos and talk about last night because I’m having a sort of emergency sports day. Long story short, I was going to do a Sounders/Mariners day, then I wasn’t, now I am again. So I’m up ungodly early for all of it. I always love the march to the match, but today is going to be a long day. If I’m still upright by the time tonight’s Padres game rolls around, it’ll be a miracle.
In any event, I wanted to share something interesting I’d found. Through the course of discussion last night, Randy Messenger’s name came up. I was telling my friend Craig about him signing a baseball for me, and about how incredibly large a person he was. I then mentioned that he had gone to Japan to pitch for the Hanshin Tigers, and Tom joked about what the size and height difference must be between Messenger and his teammates. This morning, I decided to see if I could find any photos, but stumbled upon this, instead. If you don’t want to blindly click the link, it’s a blog by an ex-Mets (and several others) pitcher, Casey Fossum. He’s also with the Tigers now, and blogs about his experiences over there playing ball. Kinda neat. If you scroll down on the blog, there’s a photo of Fossum, Messenger, and their translator sitting on two giant Hello Kittys. Love it!
Alright, I have to go get ready for what is going to be a very long day. Up the Sounders! Go Mariners!
