I tried to go to bed early last night, and tried to sleep until at least 8 this morning. What wound up happening, however, was me falling asleep maybe around 11.30, waking up at 2am, waking up at 3am, waking up at 7.30am, and now sitting here drinking coffee because trying to go back to sleep earlier didn’t work. My nose is stuffy, my throat hurts, I’m coughing, and I have that weird sick thing where you know you’re hungry, but since you have no sense of smell, nothing really sounds good. The plan is to go to Everett armed with cough drops, guaifenesin tablets, and my Seattle Mariners BPA-free water bottle (along with my own personal tools of ignorance, the laptop and camera) and hope for the best. This is one of those colds that is strong enough to be bothersome, but not strong enough to lay me out.
Apparently, last night’s game was quite the blowout – a grand slam and an inside-the-park home run were witnessed by the crowd in attendance, along with some situation having to do with Salem-Keizer’s manager and third base coach (but I have yet to get the full story on that). Tonight, there will be fireworks, so Everett is successfully combining two of my Favorite Things; baseball and making things explode.
I’ve moved my Twitter widget to the upper half of the sidebar here just for fun, otherwise you can follow me here, or follow Conor here. I can’t post photos from my phone, but he can, so we’re going to try and get some pictures from batting practice up, but we’ll see what winds up happening.
Hopefully while I’m up enjoying my day, Jason Vargas and the boys can get it done against Justin Verlander and the Tigers. Fingers crossed for offense!
