This is it

In the past, I’ve had two “rules” of sorts – the Mariners have to win their home opener, and they have to win the last game of the season. Since we now sit at a nice round 100 losses after last night’s debacle, what’s the harm in winning this one today? Ryan Rowland-Smith will be starting, why not give him a win? Please? Hello?

I am up far too early to be able to get down to Pyramid to meet some friends of ours from way out of town – England, to be precise. We won’t be able to spend much more than an hour or so with them, but I’m hoping it will be a nice visit before whatever it is that decides to happen happens this afternoon. The Mariners didn’t win on Fan Appreciation Night, maybe they could win on Kids Appreciation Day?

Back later with photos, actual game post…

  1. It just occurred to me that Hyphen started the home opener, too. I guess a little bit of symmetry is appropriate for this year…

Megan – Would be a shame if I didn’t let you know at least once this year how I truly appreciate your writing. Being a “new” Mariners fan (the Tigers have always been, eh, still, my boys… so I do have understanding of disapointment) I have enjoyed sharing the season with you. With the (my) kid being recently drafted by Seattle…here’s a toast to looking forward to reading your blogs re: the Mariners in the post season!, very soon. Thanks

      Wow, thank you! 🙂
It’s been fun watching your boy on the occasions I’ve had to watch him (admittedly, not many), and frankly, the ‘Sox have cushioned the blow of the Mariners, and I’m so glad they got their championship. 🙂
Do you read Roar of the Tigers? I don’t know how active she is still (I’m so far behind on my reading because of school it’s not even funny), but she loves the Tigers. 🙂
