Last night, today, and my bad eyesight

I don’t know how important it is to anyone, but I am probably taking tonight off – I woke up not feeling too hot, and have spent most of the day at work today fighting off nausea, dizziness, and a strange impending feeling that I might be getting sick. While I hate to do it, I don’t know that I will be able to stay up long enough to watch tonight’s game – and I’d like to stay well enough to actually be able to go to tomorrow’s. I asked Conor to cover for me, but I don’t know what else he might have going on tonight. Whatever happens, I’m sure I can’t say anything that anyone else isn’t saying or thinking already, so missing one game isn’t going to kill me.

I did go to last night’s game, and I have to say, it was probably the most fun I’ve had at a losing game. Good-natured ribbing from the Tigers fans there, and the Mariners fans in our section taking it all in stride made the game tolerable, despite the mess it turned into, and the voluptuous horror of Chris Ray. If I’m going to root for a losing team, I don’t need my nose rubbed in it, and the Tigers fans in attendance last night were really quite nice to us, all things considered. I know my team is awful, but there is a difference between acknowledging that, and acting like you’re the first person to discover it. Thanks also to Jose Pineda, DJ Kalambre at KAOS Radio down in Olympia – he was responsible for kindly offering me two of the four tickets he fell into possession of so Cynthia and I could go and get razzed by happy Tigers fans. It was totally worth sitting in the cold for, even though the game didn’t end until about 11pm.

Last night’s game also made me realize that I really really do need to get my eyes checked – the quality of my photos has been suffering a lot lately, and I think it might be due to my eyesight. My vision insurance kicks in at the beginning of May, and I plan to book myself into an appointment as soon as possible. The problem seems to be that the photos look fine when they’re shot in the camera, but when they’re uploaded, they’re blurry and just terrible, and I’m not trying to make any of you look at that. So photos may be few for a while around here until I can fix the problem.
