Hate the way they’re playing the game.
With a two-run shot in the first inning from Miguel Olivo, I had a tiny flicker of hope that maybe – just maybe – the Mariners might be able to stop their losing skid today. But it was not to be. And by the 5th inning, the Boston Red Sox had managed to beat Aaron Laffey into a pulp, and the score was 3-10 by the bottom half. Instead of going outside to play in the nice Seattle weather, however, I remained planted firmly in front of the TV. It has become no longer a matter of whether or not we will lose, but how badly we will lose. That’s as much a competition to me as the game itself.
12-7 is the answer.
And away we go to New York.
EDIT: Yep, I posted this before Dustin Ackley got his RBI in the 9th. So 12-8 is the answer. Not a good answer, but the answer. We put up a bit of a fight against Alfredo Aceves, but we still lost our 15th game, and we will be going off to meet the Yankees. The guys in the dugout do not look happy, but what else are they supposed to do?
