The Mariners are in the 6th inning of their first game in Boston. I had to run errands for a party I am hosting tomorrow, so I wasn’t able to get home in time for the start of it, but we’re up by 5 runs, so the Ms have clearly had a great start. There are a lot of Mariners fans in attendance at this one, people who have traveled from Washington state to visit Fenway. Even though there are some very dark clouds threatening rain, I am envious. I will get there some day. I am also very much looking forward to the Orioles series at the beginning of July. Daniel and I have tickets already for that Saturday, but I’ve decided that I’m going to all of the games again this year. I used to be good with one game, but I can go, so I feel like I should. Orioles shirt and Mariners jersey time again. I can hardly wait. The Orioles are in a tight first place race right now with Boston, and it looks like we might help them out today, if things go well over the next few innings. Here are some pictures!
Poor Wade Miley. Placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder impingement – which I feel is much worse an injury than it sounds – he shaved his beard a short while back and I guess it had a more resounding effect than we all wanted it to; if you believe in that sort of thing. Apparently Miley says it’s just a minor setback, and he’ll be good and ready when he’s able to come back at the end of the month. I hope he’s right. With Felix’s injuries a little more questionable than they were initially, and our bullpen not being nearly as neat and tidy as maybe one might like, I feel like we need all the help we can get. We’re still in second place, and doing a lot better than the teams below us, but anything can happen in this game; and it usually does.
Did you know the Mariners have a garden? Well, they do, and it’s in the batter’s eye, and it’s freaking awesome! I haven’t done much research on this, and found out about it about a week and a half ago, when a friend on FaceBook was out at a game and noticed it, so I had to go see it for myself, and did last weekend. It’s a lot like my garden, but they have easily 350 more feet of space on me. More ballparks should do this. I don’t know if my salad from the other week was from there, or even which food areas might be using it, but it’s a brilliant idea, and I love the organization even more for doing it.
Pano of the park from over The Pen. Look at this place. Just look at it. That’s our ballpark, and it is fantastic. I can hardly wait for two weekends from now. A three day weekend and three baseball games? Yes, please!
Robinson Cano just hit another home run. My Red Sox-loving friend Eric might come over tomorrow to watch the game for a bit, so I’ll get some flack from him for this game, but I don’t mind; a score like this is totally worth it. Go Mariners!
