Paul Ryan's Janesville address out of his district. But Ryan says he won't move from his home city to stay in the 1st District, as some have suggested. "My Waterloo is obviously Janesville. I'm not moving," he said.
Ryan, a Republican, has represented the 1st District since winning election in 1998. Redistricting proposals now in the works are aimed at equalizing the populations of the state's various districts based on the 2000 Census. Wisconsin will have eight districts instead of nine, with one of Milwaukee's districts being split up, because of the state's relatively slow population growth compared with OBITUARIES AND FUNERALS Asher, Hilda M. Hilda M. Asher, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Sunday, Dec.
16, 2001, at her home. She was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Charlevoix, the daughter of the late John Roen and Mary (Skye) Trayte. She 1 was a graduate of Michigan State University Class of 1940. On Aug.
24, 1940 she married Charles W. Asher in Charlevoix, Mich. Together they owned and operated Roen Salvage in Sturgeon Bay. Charles preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1993.
She was a member of the Sturgeon Church Bay in United Methodist Sturgeon Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, and Door County Maritime Museum. Survivors include her three sons and daughter, Charles (Susan) Asher, Santa Barbara, Susan Asher, Sturgeon Bay; John (Sandra) Asher, Sturgeon Bay; Stephan (Rachel) Asher, Sturgeon Bay; six grandchildren; sister and brother-inlaw, Sonia and Ron Micke. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles W. Asher; and brother, Marquis Roen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Boettcher officiating. Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4 to 8 p.m.

The essence of Hilda was her passion for making every day count. She cherished her time with family and friends, and loved sailing to new ports every year.

She moved back to Green Bay in 1973 and retired in 1975. She was born Sept. 8, 1907, in Green Bay, to the late John and Alma (Stobbe) Campshure. Mildred was employed by Northwest Engineering Co. for 51 years. She started in the office in Green Bay, was transferred to Chicago as secretary to the president of the company, L.E.
Houston and later to his son, A.F. Houston. In 1963, she became assistant secretary of the company and sec- other states. A likely change would have Rock County split between the 1st and 2nd districts. Ryan's 1st District would get the eastern part of the county and Janesville.

Smithback, Janet Elaine Janet Elaine Smithback, 68, Madison, died on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at her home surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on April 17, 1933, in Deerfield, the daughter of Sadolph and Margaret (Berge) Hagen.
Janet graduated from Cambridge High School in 1951 and then married Albert Smithback on Nov. 7, 1953. She retired from the Madison School District in 1996, where she worked in food service for over 25 years. She was a member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church and its quilters group. Janet was an avid blower and enjoyed golfing.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Al; a son, Michael S. (Julie) Smithback, Krakow, Wis. and their children, Alex and Emily; a daughter, Sally K. (Scott) Nordenstrom, Deforest and their children, Jake, Brady, Jenna and Reagan; a brother, Jerry Hagen, Middleton; two sisters, Arlene Prochnow, Shirley Johnson, both of Cambridge; nieces and nephews and other family.

Clarence (Helen) Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Wierschke, 77, Wrightstown, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 18, 2001, at a local hospital surrounded by her loving family from heart complications. Daughter of Daniel and Josephine (LaCombe) Corry was born in Stephenson, Dec. 14, 1924.
She married Clarence Wierschke on July 20, 1946, in Wrightstown. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1990. Helen worked for the Ariens Company in Brillion for 23 years until retiring in 1986. She was also a very active member at St.
John Ev. Lutheran Church, particularly helping at funeral lunches. Helen was an avid sheephead player, loved Country and Western music, baking for others, and greatly treasured her grandchildren. Helen is survived by her daughter, Sandy Kiefert and special friend, Ken Tebon, both of Green Bay; grandchildren, Richard L. Kiefert, Julie (Tom) Berry, Roxanne fall's elections.
In the state's House delegation, Democratic Rep. David Obey and Republican Rep. James Sensenbrenner have proposed a working redistricting map and asked other incumbents for their opinions. Ryan said the first map he saw would put all of Rock County into the 2nd District. "Both sides tried to get me to leave Janesville," Ryan said, but he said no.

17, 1901, in Brussels to the late Henry and Ida (Lesuisse) Herlache. Palmer was a life long resident of Door County, a member of the White Star Church and a dressmaker. On April 28, 1920, she married George Delwiche, he died on Aug. 8, 1944. They operated a dairy farm until his death.
Palmer was a resident of the Dorchester since June 9, 1995. Survivors include two nephews, Sheldon (Joan) Herlache and Sherman (Sue) Herlache, Brussels; great-nieces and nephews. Myrtle C. Rohm, 87, 303 Wittlin Black Creek, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, 2001, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born July 21, 1914, in Center Township, daughter of the late Frank and Matilda (Presteen) Luedtke. On Aug.
16, 1933, she was united in marriage to Theodore C. Rohm in Center Township. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1996. Myrtle was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, the Concordia Society and the Progressive Sisters Homemakers Club.
She loved gardening, making afghans, making cookies and fishing.
