Het verhaal gaat over Ben, die in het dagelijks leven als kleine zelfstandige met moorden de kost verdient. Zonder het minste probleem doodt hij postbodes, bejaarden en families met een bescheiden bestaan, maar aan grote vermogens waagt hij zich nooit. Ben geeft een tv-ploeg toestemming een reportage over hem te maken. Er ontwikkelt zich een merkwaardige vriendschap. Het reportageteam begint steeds medeplichtiger te worden. In niet mis te verstane bewoordingen en handelingen en op een rake, vernieuwende toon, stellen de jonge Belgen hier bepaalde tv- reportages en -shows aan de kaak. Zij doen dit op de meest efficiënte wijze, n.l. door de kijker zelf met een dosis wrange humor via de valstrik van de lach in de fout te laten gaan. Het spel van Poelvoorde, die hier voor het eerst op het scherm te zien is, is adembenemend natuurlijk. Belvaux, Bonzel, Poelvoorde - een trio om in de gaten te houden. Zij schreven ook het scenario. André Bonzel bediende bovendien de camera.
